Past Project - MIA

 Hi!!

Yet another update for the MIA period!


This is an order for 250pax of Christmas box.  This order consists of 500 Gingerbread Man and 250 Red Velvet Cupcakes. Yes that's ALOT for just poor me. Luckily I have my Grandma:D, and some friends who voluntarily came over to help with misc. stuff like Deco and packaging issues.

This was the first ever order that is over 12 cupcakes per order. YES, a challenge but it was a successful one with certain hiccups here and there.




This is part of the Red Velvets that we baked.




And yes PART of the packed Gingerbreadman. I have never seen SO MANY smileys looking at you. Quite creepy actually.








These photos are the cupcakes and the gingerbread man. This was the packaging that I used for this Christmas Box.

Not the perfect kinda box I will use. But the packaging issue was settled kinda last minute so I had to make do with it. Furthermore the company that makes something that I want need to order like a THOUSAND pieces for a wholesale px. Imagine that. My house totally NO SPACE at all.







 Yeah. And guess what, my name card is here!

Made it just in time for this order! Quite proud of it!

Past projects - MIA

AS PROMISED!


Today's post are on the previous projects that I have done.

Firstly one of my closest friend's cake. Shobana. She ordered this cake for her 21st Birthday cake that will be celebrated with her cousin. So this cake has to be UNISEX as her cousin is a male. SO, much discussion had to be made to make it unisex.



This is the Full View of the Cake. Its a one face cake. Means not meant for a 360 view :)




Actually, there is a story to her cake. about 3 hours before the party which I have to attend too, the top tier was ENTIRELY different. Serious. I was more blotch and thick black stokes on it. Wasn't really happy and furthermore we had to stick the cake into the fridge as it had the fragile and decadent triple chocolate cake(which MUST BE COLD - if not it will melt. Literally). The next day for final touch ups, the Cake started to cry. It was dripping with water and it looks like a girl bawling her eyes out with streaks of black mascara on her cheeks. YES MY FRIENDS it was the worst case scenario. Stripping and redoing the top tier. 3 hours before the event. AND I HAD TO MAKE A NEW RECIPE OF FONDANT FROM SCRATCH I HAD NO LEFTOVERS.

So, that how the top tier got into. :D














Honestly, I really feel that it was a blessing in disguise.

MIA

I know I know.


It has been lightyears since I've updated this blogshop about cakes since I seriously don't know when. BUT WE ARE STILL OPEN!!! Its because of Thousands of orders we're having and the studying that I HAVE TO GO THROUGH preventing me and making me procrastinate to blog about anything as I'm too tired to do ANYTHING.


It been a though few months. but I'm still standing! Will bring myself to connect the camera to its USB cable and plug it into the Mac to transfer those photos!

HEH give me one more day HUH. :D


Just to note!

Did a cakepop themed cake, 200 cakepops order and Deathly Hallows Symbol cake.. and MANY MORE till I can't really remember. HEH. :P


Just finished a 250 pax order consisting of 250 red velvets and 500 gingerbread mans. YES. 500. Imagine the decor for each of them.. BUT its therapeutic seriously. I can do baking and decor anytime and it wont get me stressed up like school(BLEAGH!).


ALSO... Fruitcakes and Xmas Cupcakes to come!!

Official Logo

Hi Guys!



I know we have been lacking a logo for the blog. We haven't come up with one until now. Too busy with the orders and school work. Furthermore, I did not have Photoshop until recently. So initially I asked my DEAR FRIEND, ARIEL (she's such a dear) to help me with creating one cos I saw one of he works and it seem not bad! We really got one from her which was really really good.


We were about to use it until I came by a chance that I'm able to get the CS5 onto my laptop. So I took it and tried to mingle with it to see whether I still have the skills that I had before. Because my vision was something that was more scrapbooky and playful with colours. Well, because, what i deal with every in cakes is colours and creativity.


My mum asked me to give it go and I did! and we finally derived an official logo in 5 hours of trial and error with differetn colours and textures. :)

Here's the final product!












I think I'm happy with it :) lemme know your comments!

New cakes!

Its been a long time since I have blogged on the progress of the cakes I've been doing. Recently there has been another order of Chanel cake again together with a birthday cake and Macarons for a party.


Firstly, the Chanel Cake.














I was finally able to nail the Trademark of the Chanel Bag. With the help of Clara! :D And it has been to long since I've done roses. So i need more practice to make it more life like. This is considered not bad after such a long hiatus.




Next! is the Honeycomb Cake. Remember that I mentioned before that honeycomb was actually really easy to make? Well yeah I used it in the coming cake as a garnish. This cake was for a birthday for someone close to us.

























I tried to finish up the remaining chocolate that I had and used it to drip down the side of the cake to cake it look like melted candle effect. :) I seriously didn't want to find a container to keep the remaining chocolate.



Next finally is the Macarons. I have REALLY NICE pictures of it. However, the Chocolate one was a failure but super delicious to eat. Well, that was what everyone else said. I guess seeing is believing:

Honeycomb!

Hi guys!


Long time since I've updated! :) Business as usual, Cake Pops, Cupcakes, Macarons. Have many potential Orders coming up! An Order for a wedding Boutique that I MAY be supplying for a long time. A Bank's Functions and that need cupcakes and cake pops. Also a wedding Cupcake favours... i think for my Sis's friend's Sis. :) :DDD Busy busy busy!


Today I found out how to make honeycomb. I always thought that honey comb can only be bought and not made cos of this complicated-imaginary procedure to make it. Some how I realised its just sugar and BS! HOW SIMPLE! :) and its was Yum Yum!!


Will post pictures of it soon when I have the time! :DDD


Meanwhile. Its time to go and finish up a Red Velvet cake!! :) Love you guys.

Manchester United

Hey guys!



New cake again. This time it was a challenging one. My heart nearly skipped a beat for this one.
Its a Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting. Covered with Red Fondant and A Royal Icing Manchester United Crest.


I haven't and WILL never be a Football fan. (Cos I don't really get it) But I LOVE this challenge of replicating the crest on this cake. This cake was for someone's birthday. I really tried my best on the crest though those DIE HARD football fans may be able to spot MANY flaws while scrutinizing it but I guess It was not bad for a first timer. Now that I've done it. I know how Royal Icing Works. Its taxing and tough but Its worth it. Its like therapy for me. Calms me down after the exams. :)


The feedback for it was it looked Fabulous and tasted Good too! :) Thanks Jillian for giving me this opportunity.

New Element

I've been thinking to myself, for the past few days. How much I have grown through baking.


Last time I didn't even know how to make a cake batter. Never even made a simple banana cake. Serious. I've been constantly wanting to improve myself.


My birthday's coming up! and I'm going to be 22. DREAD DREAD DREAD. And you know what? I'm going to bake myself a cake. YES. bake my own birthday cake. I'm gonna use this chance to conquer another phase of my pastry life. Entrements. YES. My ultimate goal. I LOVE TO EAT entrements and alwasy wondered why it is SO expensive for A slice. I realised it really alot of work. You have to chill it for every layer for at least 2 to 3 hours. and EVERY layer has to be LEVELED. Imagine the details and intricate results that you have to produce. And yes I'm fussy about it cos I'm A perfectionist in my work. I strive to make it the best.


SO. I'm out to conquer Entrements. When I do.. I'll be posting it. LOOK OUT!

Oreo Cupcakes

I have bad news.


The pick up for the Chanel cakes was in such a rush I couldn't pipe my red V's for her order. I had to SPREAD. HORROR! Lucky she's a friend and she didn't mind. AND.... I forgot to take photos of it.. Sorrrrryyyy :( It look just like the Chanel in the Gallery just not with the rose.. With PINK DAISIES! But I took the Oreo!


Professionally I'll have to ask you to wait for at least half hour to get the cream cheese to the right consistency AND I'M DETERMINED TO PIPE ALL OF MY CUPCAKES NO SPREADING!!. except the Banana cupcake HEH.


The Oreo cupcakes WERE WONDERFUL. they look really good! I couldn't stop tasting the buttercream.. (with a clean spoon of course, no finger dippin'). Wanna see wanna see???






YUP! Delish right?

Oreo Cupcakes - Moist Chocolate Cupcake with Oreo Frosting, Oreo Bits and a Oreo Biscuit. :)

Busy Week!

Busy BUSY for this week!


Exams next week! and 3 others coming up this week. 70 Cake pops, Chanel Cake + 20 Cake pops and 12 Oreo Cupcakes! The 70 Cakepops has been picked up yesterday night! Customer seems happy. Really happy with those pops that I made two days ago. Made them Till I had a blue black on the back of my hand due to SPEED TAPPING :D But its all worth it! Look out for the Chanel cake this weekend and with the Oreo Cupcakes!

ELMO-MO-MO

Elmo.


I've had an order for Elmo cake.


Was kinda challenging as replicating can be hard due to the details that have to be scrutinized to create something as close as the REAL THING. Fondant is hard enough. IMAGINE CREAM. YEAP. Buttercream Frosting. Furthermore, I'm not so good with Symmetrical things like drawing the left same eye as the right eye. It requires some erasing and re-sketching on paper. CREAM CAN'T be erased. It's a one and one time only CHANCE.



So I went ahead.



It came out quite good. I needed quite alot of colouring to get that red for the furry coast of elmo. Should think of changing to another brand. HAHA. Anyways. Will Update the picture when I do have the time.


I'm still a student! Have a MCQ test in a few days. Need to study badly. Sorry. Meantime. Feel free to look at the gallery! New photos of Macarons that I have attempted and Cupcakes. New designs for those. Realised topping the cupcakes with a macaron looks really nice. MAYBE. I should make the macaron smaller. Yeah I would think so. :)

Feeling JAZZY?

HEY GUYS!


Had a Jazz Cake Order in FEB 2011. Its for a Birthday celebration in Sentosa in one of the Hotels. Too a long time to actually find the place. But it was a learning experience. :)

Making this cake was tough as I has to draw musical note on the cake. Its like trying to PIPE on a WALL. But I was able to do so. PRACTICE!


I did different Types of flowers, Daisy, Sunflower, Baby Breath, Periwinkle shaped flowers. OH and not forgetting deep red ROSES. :) Its been too long since I made roses. NEARLY lost touch with it.
